Let x and 60-x be the two numbers. We can say that one number (we can say 60-x) is equal to

60+-+x+=+12+%2B+%28x%2F2%29

120+-+2x+=+24+%2B+x

96+=+3x

x+=+32

The numbers are 32 and 28. We can check, since 28 is twelve more than half of 32.
