You can insert absolute value by using | | signs, done by doing Shift+\, or if you know how to insert formulas on this site using three curly braces, you can do something like abs(x).

If you have abs%28-2x-5%29+%3C=+9 we have -9+%3C=+-2x-5+%3C=+9. Adding 5 to both sides,

-4+%3C=+-2x+%3C=+14 Divide both sides by -2 (note to switch the inequality signs)

2+%3E=+x+%3E=+-7, more commonly written as -7+%3C=+x+%3C=+2.
