Question 417305: This is a tough one. Could you please help?
Trains A and B are traveling in the same direction on parallel tracks. Train A is traveling 60 miles per hour, and train B is traveling at 64 miles per hour. Train A passes a station at 3:10 P.M. If train B passes the same station at 3:40 P.M., at what time will train B catch up to train A?
Thanks for your time and help! It's so greatly appreciated!! Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source):
Train A passes station at 03:10
Train B passes station at 03:40
Difference in time= 00:30
Train A will have covered 30 miles before Train B starts
catch up distance= 30 miles
catch up speed = 64-60 mph
catch up speed = 4 mph
Catchup time = catchup distance/catch up speed
catch up time=30 /4
catch up time= 7.5 hours
