Question 415835: Please help me solve this Multiple choice question.
The expression 2/3-sqrt3 is equivalent to
a.) 3+sqrt3/3
b.) 3-sqrt3/3
c.) 1+2sqrt3
d.) 1-2sqrt3
I attempted this problem as follows..
First I multiplied by the conjugate which would be 3+sqrt3.
On the top I got 6+2sqrt3 on the bottom I got 9+3sqrt3-3sqrt3+3
I combined like terms on the bottom and was left with 12
I ended up with 6+2sqrt3/12
You can reduce the 6 and 12
My final answer was 2sqrt3/2 But that was not a choice.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

it is 1 + (1/sqrt3)

we can write as
(3+ sqrt3)/3

so, answer is a.)
