Five times some number is 10 less than the number. 

Five times x is 10 less than x.

5 times x is 10 less than x. 

5x is 10 less than x. 

5x = 10 less than x.

5x = x lessened by 10. 

5x = x - 10. 

Can you solve that? Answer: x = -2.5
