Solving 

5x^2=10

 x^2 = 2

  x = ± sqrt(2)

Findng the x-intercepts (when f(x) = 0) 

f(x)=5x^2-10

 0 = 5x^2 - 10

5x^2=10       x = ± sqrt(2)
