Solving by elimination

2x + y = 8             | 2*3 + 2 = 8

y = -x + 5  OR -x-y= -5



2x + y = 8 

-x - y = -5

 x = 3 and y = 2        |(y =-x+5)



Solving by substtution

y = -x + 5

2x + y = 8 

2x + (-x+5) = 8

     x = 3 and y = 2     |(y =-x+5)
