Question 41261: Can someone help me with this problem?
Gasoline accounts for 85% of the motor fuel consumed in the United States every day. If 8,882 thousand barrels (bbl) of motor fuel is consumed each day, how much gasoline is consumed each day in the United States? Round to the nearest barrel.
Thanks,

You can put this solution on YOUR website! If gasoline accounts for 85% of the motor fuel, then we have to find 85% of 8,882 thousand barrels, that is;
8,882*85%=8,882*85/100=7549,7 thousand barrels
When we round 7549,7 thousand barrels to the nearest integer it makes 7550 thousand barrels.
(To round to the nearest one, we look at the digit just to the right of it, which is 7 here. If that digit is greater than or equal to 5, we add one to the rounding digit and change all the digits to the right of it to zero.)
I hope this helps. If there is something you could not understand let me know.
