I am guessing that the width of the rectangle is equal to the sides of a square.
Side * Side = Area
w * w = a
w^2 = a
Also, the rectangle:
(w + 8)(w) = 160 + a
w^2 + 8w = 160 + a
w^2 + 8w - 160 = w^2
8w = 160
w = 20
Plug:
(w + 8) = length
20 + 8 = length
28 = length
Square: 20x20
Rectangle: 20x28
