You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a = number of adult tickets sold
c = number of child tickets sold
given:
(1) a+%2B+c+=+80
(2) 12a+%2B+5c+=+519
------------------
Multiply both sides of (1) by 5
and subtract (1) from (2)
(2) 12a+%2B+5c+=+519
(1) -5a+-+5c+=+-400
7a++=+119
a+=+17
And from (1),
(1) a+%2B+c+=+80
(1) 17+%2B+c+=+80
(1) c+=+63
63 child tickets were sold
check answer:
(2) 12a+%2B+5c+=+519
(2) 12%2A17+%2B+5%2A63+=+519
(2) 204+%2B+315+=+519
(2) 519+=+519
OK
