Let x and (480-x) represent the number of adults and children respectively

Question states***Sets up the Proportion

  5%2F3+=+x%2F%28480-x%29   |cross multiplying to solve for x

Solving for x

   3x = 5(480-x)

   8x = 2400

     x = 300, # if adults attending.  The # of children was 180.  (480-120)
