Question 410020: how do you solve the following problem. x+3y=1 -3x-3y=-15
Answer by Adrish(44) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! SOLUTIONS: x+3y=1.............(1)
-3x-3y=-15.................(2)
Equation (1) can be rewritten as
x=-3y+1
Now Divide the whole equation(2) by -3, we get
x+y=5
Substitute the value of x in the above equation we get
-3y+1+y=5
-2y = 4
so, y=-2
Now substitute the value of y in
x=-3y+1
x=-3(-2)+1
x=-5
