Hi
Writing each decimal as a fraction or mixed number.
.65 = 65/100 = 13/20
5.035 = 5 35/1000 = 5 7/200

If there are no significant digits to the left of the decimal point, then you will end up with a proper fraction.

Take the significant digits to the right of the decimal point -- That is the numerator of your fraction. For the denominator, write a 1 followed by a zero for every digit, significant or otherwise, to the left of the decimal point.

If there are significant digits to the left, then you have a mixed number. Treat the decimal part as above and just put the fraction you develop after the whole number part.

Any decimal may be reduced to a common fraction. To do this we simply write out the numerator and denominator in full and reduce to lowest terms.

For example, to change 0.65 to a common fraction, we simply write out the fraction in full,

65%2F100

and reduce to lowest terms,

65%2F100....divide both numerator and denominator by 5

13%2F20

same with mixed number

+5.035=+5%2835%2F1000%29

+5%2835%2F1000%29=5%28cross%2835%297%2Fcross%281000%29200%29
