Question 409473: please i need help!! gaph the line w/the givven point and slope (-2,5) -1
I understand that y=mx+b
5= -2(-1)+b
b=3 right??

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I understand that y=mx+b
5= -2(-1)+b
b=3 right??
-----------------
That's right. Now you know the slope, m and the y-int, b
So y = mx + b
y = -x + 3 is the equation of the line.
------------
Pick 2 values for x and find y
x = 0, y = 3 --> (0,3)
x = 3, y = 0 --> (3,0)
Plot the two points, draw a line thru them

Hi
graph Line with slope m = -1, passing thru Pt(-2,5)
y = mx + b |Yes
5 = -2(-1)+ b |good work, using ordered pair Pt(-2,5) to solve for b
3 = b |Yes
y = -x + 3 | y-intercept is Pt(0,3)
Note m = -1/1:
as y increases/decreases by 1, x increases/decreases by 1 in opposite direction
Thus Pt( 1,2) and Pt(-1,4) on this line. Plotting and connecting with a line:
