Question 409130: please help me solve this equation i have been working at it for awhile.Thank u
When a certain drug is taken orally, the concentration of the drug in the patient's bloodstream after t minutes is given by
C(t)=006t−00001t2
When is the maximum serum concentration reached?
After____ minutes.
What is the maximum concentration?
_____mg/L

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Assume the equation is:
C(t)= .006t - .00001t^2
This is a quadratic equation; Max C(t) occurs at the axis of symmetry
Find the axis of symmetry using x = -b/(2a)
In this equation; a=-.00001, b=.006; x = t, so we have
t = %28-.006%29%2F%282%2A-.00001%29
t = %28-.006%29%2F%28-.00002%29
t = 300 minutes
:
Find the max concentration, replace t with 300 in the original equation
C(t) = .006(300) - .00001(300^2)
C(t) = 1.8 - .9
C(t) = .9 mg/L max concentration
