You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Each Quarter is 25 cents. If we have 1 quarter, how many cents do we have? 25. If we have 2 quarters, we have 50 cents. Why? Because each quarter has 25 cents, so 2 of them would be 2X25
25
X2
__
50
. So we need to know the value in cents of 5 quarters! We know 1 quarter is 25X1 cents, and 2 quarters is 25X2 cents, so what is 5 quarters?!
It must mean 5 'quarters'. each quarter being 25 'cents', it means 5 '25 cents' so 5 25's, or 25 and 25 and 25 and 25 and 25. OR 5X25.
There are two ways of solving the problem,
25%2B25%2B25%2B25%2B25 or 5X25
both give us the answer of 125. One hundred and twenty five cents. That's a dollar twenty five!
THE ANSWER IS 125 CENTS.
