Question 408127: How can one divide fractions? For the cot pi/3 = 60 degrees, it's x divided by y, which would be 1/2 divided by square root of 3/2. I don't understand how the answer comes out to be square root of 3 over 3...? Is it something I just have to memorize or can it be worked out? Sorry if this is a really obvious algebra question math just isn't my strongest subject! Thanks.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Your answer is correct. You got
cot%28pi%2F3%29+=+1%2Fsqrt%283%29
Now multiply top and bottom by sqrt%283%29%2Fsqrt%283%29
Notice that this doesn't change anything, since
sqrt%283%29%2Fsqrt%283%29+=+1%2F1
%281%2Fsqrt%283%29%29%2A%28sqrt%283%29%2Fsqrt%283%29%29+=+sqrt%283%29%2F3
