Let x and (75-x) represent the dimes and nickels respectively

Question states***CENTS makes sense!

 10x + 5(75-x) = 650

Solving for x  

     5x = 275

      x = 55, number of dimes.  20 Nickles   (75-55)



CHECKING our Answer***

  550 + 100 = 650 or $6.50
