Question 406257: SCALE DRAWINGS: Hello, I have a question and it is on my homeowork. My math teacher never tought us this way of a problem. Please show your work so that I may understand how you got your answer.
1.) From head to tail, the length of a T-Rex is about 40 feet. You want to design a toy of this dinosaur with a scale of 1 inch : 8 feet.How long is your toy?
2.) The length of a wall in a floor plan is 6 1/2 inches. The actual wall is 78 feet long. Find the scale of the floor plan.
3.) The height of a building is 3 3/8 inches on a scale drawing. Find the actual height of the building if the scale used is 1 inch: 4 feet
AND HERE IS A stretch your thinking problem IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO IT FOR FUN!
111+333+777+999 In this problem, replace five of the digits with 0's so that the sum equals 1,111 PLEASE HELP ME AND PLEASE SHOW YOUR WORK THANKS! :)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hi
using Proportions to determine drawings to scale:
1) 1"/(8') = x/40' |cross multiply to solve
8x = 40
x = 5"
2) 6.5"/78' = 1/x
6.5x = 78
x = 12' Scale 1":12'
3) (27/8)"/x = 1"/4'
x= (27/8)*4 = 27/2 = 13.5'
If I am understanding the question properly :)
111+333+777+999: replace five of the digits with 0's so that the sum equals 1,111
333 + 777 = 1,110
1,110 + 001 + 000 = 1,111
