Algebra basically states that an unknown number may be represented by the letter x.

Now since these two terms are equal (definition of equation), transfer the 34x to the other side so that the difference equals zero.

By factoring, we get:

Applying the quadratic formula,

and

Thus leaving the solution set {0,34}
The possible answer is the number 34 itself.
