You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You know that the perimeter of an object is the value of all of its sides added together.
This triangle's perimeter is 30 inches, so you know that that's what your sides will equal as a whole.
Let's have the third side of the triangle be "x", the second side of the triangle be "x+7", as the problem says that the second side is 7 inches longer than the third, and the first side of the triangle be "x+8", as the problem says that the first triangle is one inch longer than the second.
Now just put them together.
(x)+(x+7)+(x+8)=30
Now combine your like terms, the variables first(x).
3x+15=30
Subtract 15 from both sides. Your ultimate goal is to get your variable totally alone on one side without any other numbers with it.
3x=15
Divide both sides by three to get the variable totally alone.
x=5
Your x is 5, which means that's the third side. Now plug that in to the rest of your variables.
x=5
x+7=12
x+8=13
Add them all up to make sure that your answer is your perimeter, 30.
5+12+13=30
17+13=30
30=30
And there's your answer.
Hope this helps!
