You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A sheet of cardboard 6 ft. by 7 ft. will be made into a box by cutting
equal-sized 16 INCH x 16 INCH squares from each corner and folding up the four edges.
What will be the volume (in Cubic Feet) of the box?
:
Let do this in inches:
Width 6 * 12 = 72"
Length 7* 12 = 84'
Height = 16"
:
Cutting the 16" squares will reduce the length and width by 32'
72 - 32 = 40" the box width
84 - 32 = 52" the box length
:
Find the volume
40 * 52 * 16 = 33,280 cu/inches
:
Change to cu/ft (1728 cu/in in 1 cu/ft)
33280%2F1728 = 19.26 cu/ft is the vol of the box
