10%282.1x%2B42%29=10%285.2x-20%29 Multiply both sides by 10 to clear out the decimals.


21x%2B420=52x-200 Distribute and multiply.


21x=52x-200-420 Subtract 420 from both sides.


21x-52x=-200-420 Subtract 52x from both sides.


-31x=-200-420 Combine like terms on the left side.


-31x=-620 Combine like terms on the right side.


x=%28-620%29%2F%28-31%29 Divide both sides by -31 to isolate x.


x=20 Reduce.
