Question 40531: Please help me solve this.
I need to find the altitude of a triangle.
The bottom is 10, the two sides going up to the point are 13. I cannot figure out how to do this.
I tried sqrt13^2 = sqrt13^2 + sqrt10^2
= 169 = 169 + 100
But I don't think this is right. I tried another problem similar to it that I have the correct answer to and I cannot come up with that answer so I know I'm not doing this one right. Please help! Answer by Nate(3500) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Draw the triangle out on a piece of paper. You can bisect it to get a right triangle! The right triangle's leg are now: and .... the hypotenuse is: there is your altitude!
