Question 40502: I am studying for the SAT and one of the sample problems is:
For all numbers x and y, let x (they have a triangle drawn between x and y. I do not know what the triangle means)y be defined as x triangle y = x squared + xy + y squared. What is the value of (3 triangle 1) triangle 1?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! I am studying for the SAT and one of the sample problems is:
For all numbers x and y, let x (they have a triangle drawn between x and y. I do not know what the triangle means)y be defined as x triangle y = x squared + xy + y squared. What is the value of (3 triangle 1) triangle 1?
The triangle is defining a mathematical operation to be performed
on x and y.
You are told:
x T y= x^2+xy+y^2
You are then asked to evaluate (3 T 1)T 1
The 3T1= 3^2+3*1+1^2 = 9+3+1=13
Then 13 T 1 = 13^2 + 13*1 + 1^2 = 169 +13+1 = 30
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
