Question 404938: The sum of four consecutive integers is 230. Find the integers.
Answer by IWork4Dessert(60) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! No matter what the numbers, consecutive integers will always be one after the other. The second will be one higher than the first, the third will be one higher than the second, and so on. 1, 2, and 3 all add one, 100, 101, and 102 all add one.
You know that your four integers add up to equal 230, and that each one is higher than the next.
This being said:
(x)+(x+1)+(x+2)+(x+3)=230
4x+6=230
4x=224
x=56
Now just plug in.
x=56
x+1=57
x+2=58
x+3=59
You can also check your answers by adding them together.
56+57+58+59=230
Done.
