Find all solutions of the equation: x^2 + x + 1 = 0
Solve this using the completing square method
x^2 + x + ___ = -1
Divide the coefficient of x by 2 and square it(1/2)^2, add to both sides
x^2 + x + .25 = - 1 + .25
:
x^2 + x + .25 = -.75
:
(x+.5)^2 = -.75
:
x + .5 = +/-sqrt%28-.75%29
:
x + .5 = +/-.5i%2Asqrt%283%29
:
x = -.5+%2B+.5i%2Asqrt%283%29
