If one number is x, then other is (x+1) (because they are consecutive whole numbers)
Their sum is x%2B%28x%2B1%29=x%2Bx%2B1=2x%2B1
Equation
2x%2B1=109
2x=109-1
2x=108
x=108%2F2
x=54
So the first number is 54, the second is 54+1=55
