I think you mean root%283%2C+-1000x%5E3%29. In this case you shouldn't write "^3 over the square root..." as I interpreted it as %28-1000x%5E3%29%5E3 (which is what is should mean because ^ normally represents exponents). It'd be best to write "cube root of -1000x^3" instead.

Anyway, since the cube root and the cube cancel out, root%283%2C+-1000x%5E3%29+=+root%283%2C+%28-10x%29%5E3%29+=+-10x.
