To make a negative exponent positive, either
- move it up (with the variable), if it is in the denominator,
or
- move it down (with the variable), if it is in the numerator

d^-3
-----
1

1
--- {moved d^-3 down into denominator, it became d^3}
d^3

It's pretty straightforward. By definition, x%5E%28-y%29+=+1%2Fx%5Ey. Given this, we have

d%5E%28-3%29+=+1%2Fd%5E3.
