You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let s = the speed of the slower bus
Let d = the distance the slower bus travels
s+%2B+5 = the speed of the faster bus
375+-+d = distance the faster bus travels
3 hrs = time for both buses
-------------------------------------
slower bus:
(1) +d+=+s%2A3
faster bus:
(2) 375+-+d+=+%28s+%2B+5%29%2A3
From (1):
(1) s+=+d%2F3
Substitute (1) into (2):
(2) 375+-+d+=+%28d%2F3+%2B+5%29%2A3
(2) 375+-+d+=+d+%2B+15
(2) 2d+=+360
d+=+180
375+-+d+=+195
The slower bus went 180 mi and the faster bus went 195 mi
check answer:
(1) +180+=+s%2A3
(1) s+=+60
(2) 375+-+180+=+%28s+%2B+5%29%2A3
(2) 195+=+3s+%2B+15
(2) 3s+=+180
(2) s+=+60
OK
