You can
put this solution on YOUR website! A jar of dimes and quarters contains $15.25. There are 103
coins in all. How many quarters in the jar?
thanx
Let D = the number of dimes and Q be the number of quarters
>>...There are 103 coins in all...<<
Therefore D + Q = 103
>>...A jar of dimes and quarters contains $15.25...<<
The money which the D dimes is worth is $.10 times D or .10D
The money which the Q quarters is worth is $.25 times Q or .25D
So .10D + .25D = 15.25
We have this system:
D + Q = 103
.10D + .25D = 15.25
Can you solve that system? If not post again.
Answer 70 dimes and 33 quarters
