  y = -(1/2)x + 9/2  Slope m = (-1/2)

Parallel lines have identical slopes:

 y = (-1/2)x + b  |using ordered pair Pt( 6,9) to solve for b

 9 = (-1/2)6 + b

 12 = b

 y = (-1/2)x + 12   OR in standard form: x + 2y = 24
