Using the standard slope-intercept form for an equation of a line y = mx + b

  where m is the slope and b the y-intercept.  

   6x+2y=8   OR y = -3x + 4    slope m = -3

  24x+8y=35  OR y = -3x + 35/8 slope m = -3

slopes are equal... lines are parallel
