Question 398995: please help I'm stuck!!!
My homework question is... A small fair charges $1.50 for children and $4.00 for adults. On a certain day 220 people attened and $5050 was collected. How many children and adults where there on this day.
I think it is system of equation so I set up and equation of 1.50c + 2200=5050, then I subtracted 2200 from both sides which left me with 1.50c=2850, so I then divided both sides by 1.50 which gave me 1900. But then that means only 300 adults at 4.00 dollars can out to be $1,200 so my total only came to be $4050 making it $1,000 short and I cannot figure this out please help me.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A small fair charges $1.50 for children and $4.00 for adults.
On a certain day 220 people attended and $5050 was collected.
How many children and adults where there on this day.
:
It's no wonder you are having difficulty, this is an impossible situation.
Even if all 220 people were adults, the revenue would only be $880 so where
is $5050 coming from??
