"the sum of a number and 9" translates to x%2B9 where 'x' is some number


Now multiply that whole thing by 6 to get 6%28x%2B9%29 and then add 4x (4 times the number to get 6%28x%2B9%29%2B4x


So "six times the sum of a number and 9, added to 4 times the number" translates to 6%28x%2B9%29%2B4x


Now distribute to get 6x%2B54%2B4x and combine like terms to get 10x%2B54


So the simplified expression is 10x%2B54
