Let x and (x+32) represent the age of the son and father NOW respectively

Question states*** ten years ago...

 (x +32) -10 = 3( x-10)

solving for x

  x + 22 = 3x - 30

    52 = 2x

     x = 26, the son's age NOW.  The father is NOW 58.  (26+32)

  48 = 3*16 = 48
