Question 397606: Two bikers leave 3 hours apart. The first is traveling at 6 mph and the second at 10 mph. How long until the second biker catches up with the first biker? Answer by robertb(5830) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let x = # hours before the 2nd biker catches up
==> x + 3 = # hours of travel of 1st biker when 2nd biker catches up
Then 6(x+3) = 10x
==> 6x + 18 = 10x
==> 18 = 4x
==> x = 4.5 hours.
