5/16 is larger than 4/16
4/16 = 1/4 = .25
1/8 = 2/2*1/4 = .125
1/16 = 1/2*1/8 = .0625
5/16 = 4/16 + 1/16 = .25 + .0625 = .3125
which is less than .313
