The y-coordinate of the point where a line intersects the x-axis is 0.
So, the x-intercept of a line can also be found by substituting y+=+0+in the equation of the line.
so, in your case it will be:
2x%2B4y=8.....substitute y+=+0+
2x%2B4%2A0=8
2x+=8
x+=8%2F2
x+=+4........answer:x-intercept is at (4,0)
your equation in slope-intercept form
y=%28-1%2F2%29x%2B2
