Question 395042: if cot(θ)=-(4/3) what does sin(θ)= and sec(θ)=
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! if cot(θ)=-(4/3) what does sin(θ)= and sec(θ)=
----
Note: cot = x/y
So x = +/-4 and y = +/-3
----
Since you have not said what quadrant theta is in
you only know that x and y have opposite signs.
----
But, r = sqrt(x^2 + y^2) = sqrt(4^2+3^2) = 5
----
If x is negative 4, sec(theta) = 5/-4
If x is positive 4, sec(theta) = 5/4
-----
If y is negative 3, sin(theta) = -3/5
If y is positive 3, sin(theta) = +3/5
