Question 39502: What is the difference between rational and irrational numbers? And we believe whole numbers are 0 and any number after it to the positive side. What are the negative numbers called, just integers?
We are also a little confused about the difference in counting numbers and whole numbers, are they the same?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
What is the difference between rational and irrational numbers?
Rational numbers are numbers that either repeat or terminate.
Examples: 0.25, sqrt%2816%29, 1%2F9, 223%2F999
Irrational numbers are numbers that do not repeat or terminate.
Examples: pi, sqrt%282%29, e
And we believe whole numbers are 0 and any number after it to the positive side. What are the negative numbers called, just integers?
Integers are just: ...-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3... They are not -1.25. They cannot be fractions or decimals. Negative numbers are also defined as real numbers. All numbers but the imaginery number are real numbers.
We are also a little confused about the difference in counting numbers and whole numbers, are they the same?
They are not the same. Even though they are closely related, they have a one-digit difference. Whole numbers include 0, while counting doesn't. Usually when you count, you start with one.
Whole numbers: 0,1,2,3,4....
Counting numbers: 1,2,3,4,5....
