Since this is a function, it is only possible to have one y-intercept. The y-intercept for any function is if exists.

The x-intercepts of any quadratic function are and where and are the zeros of the function if they exist. Set the function equal to zero and solve. The given quadratic does not factor over the rational numbers, so use the quadratic formula to find the two zeros.

Solve the quadratic equation: x^2 - 7x + 2 = 0. The 2 roots are both positive.
d^2 = b^2 - 4ac = 49 - 8 = 41 --> d # 6.4, and d # -6.4.
Use the Quadratic Formula In Intercept Form (see Algebra.com)
x1 = 7/2 + 6.4/2 = 3.5 + 3.2 # 6.7.
x2 = 3.5 - 3.2 # 0.3.
The 2 x-intercepts are approximately: (0.3) and (6.7).
Check: Their sum is 9 = -b, and their product is app# 2 = c/a. OK

x-intercept:

Substitute 0 for y in the equation, and solve for x. There should be TWO x-intercepts or roots, or zeroes.

y-intercept:

Substitute 0 for x in the equation, and solve for y. There should be ONE y-intercept.
