Question 393906: Hello, how would you go about solving 343-7(x+3) if x+3 is raised to the second power? Found 2 solutions by stanbon, pie90010:Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! go about solving 343-7(x+3) if x+3 is raised to the second power?
---
You have to have an equation to have a solution.
---
343-7(x+3)^2 = 0
-7(x+3)^2 = -343
---
(x+3)^2 - 49 = 0
----
Factor:
(x+3-7)(x+3+7) = 0
---
(x-4)(x+10) = 0
x = 4 or x = -10

You can put this solution on YOUR website! well you can't solve it unless it equals something ...
so im guessing that it equals 0
343-7(x+3)^2 = 0
1. subtract 343 from 0
-7(x+3)^2 = -343
2. divide both sides by -7
(x+3)^2 = 49
3. the opposite of squaring, is square root, so root both sides
x+3 = 7
4. subtract 3 from both sides
x = 4
