Answer by pie90010(44) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 5x-6=7(x+6)
1. DISTRIBUTE - multiply everything in the parenthesis by 7
5X-6 = 7X+42
2. COMBINE LIKE TERMS - get all variables on the left, and the rest on the right
-2X = 48
3. DIVIDE - isolate X by dividing by -2
X = -24
4. PROVE IT - check your answer by plugging it in!
5(-24) - 6 = -126
7(-24) + 42 = -126
126 = 126
