You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Ted walked for 90 min. and biked for 30 min. He bikes four times faster than he walks. If the total distance traveled is 14 miles, then what was his walking speed in miles per hour?
...
Ted walked 90 minutes = 1.5 hours = 3/2 hours
Ted biked for 1/2 hour.
..
walk speed = x mph
bike speed = 4x
..
d walk + d bike = 14
d= speed *time
..
(3/2)x+(1/2)*4x=14
3x/2 + 2x=14
multiply by 2
3x+4x=28
7x= 28
/7
x= 4 mph walking speed
