Let x and (45-x)represent the number of goats and chickens respectively

Question states***

 4x + 2(45-x) = 150 legs

solving for x

 4x + 90 -2x  = 150 

    2x = 60

     x = 30, the number of goats. 15 the number of Chickens  (45-20)



CHECKING our Answer

 30*4 + 15*2 = 120 + 30 = 15 legs
