Hi
Six times the smaller fraction exceeds the larger fraction by 1 1/2
Let x ,(6x- 3/2)represent the smaller and larger fraction respectively
Questions States***
x +(6x- 3/2) = 3[(x -(6x- 3/2)]
solcing for x
7x - 3/2 = 3x - 3(6x-3/2)
7x - 3/2 = 3x - 18x + 9/2
22x = 12/2
x = 12/44 = 3/11, smaller of the fractions.
Larger is = (18/11 - 3/2) = (36-33)/22 = 3/22
CHECKING our Answer
6/22 + 3/22 = 9/22 = 3* 3/22 = 9/22
