8x-2=-9%2B7x Start with the given equation.


8x=-9%2B7x%2B2 Add 2 to both sides.


8x-7x=-9%2B2 Subtract 7x from both sides.


x=-9%2B2 Combine like terms on the left side.


x=-7 Combine like terms on the right side.
