Question 391972: Ahmad has containers of two different sizes. The total capacity of 16 containers of one size is x gallons, and the total capacity of 8 containers of the other size is also x gallons, and x>0. in terms of x, what is the capacity, in gallons, of each of the larger containers?
a.4x b. 2x c. x/2 d. x/8 e. x/16 Answer by josmiceli(19441) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! In words:
(total capacity of containers)/(number of containers) = capacity of 1 container
= capacity of 1 of these 16 containers
and = capacity of 1 of these 8 containers
-----------------
The problem basically wants to know which containers are larger- the 1st
group or the second group
The 2nd group has the larger containers since I am
dividing the same by the smaller number ,
so, is the capacity in gallons of the larger containers
